ABOUT THE CENTRAL LIBRARY

The Central library spreads over to ground plus one floor, well-protected with fire alarm, Flap Barrier and CCTV surveillance. It has specialized collections of Books, Journals & other resources in Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Civil service examinations, Humanities, Social Sciences and Management ranging from printed books, CDs\DVDs. The Central Library subscribes to national and international journals in print and online journals. The library has a QEEE and NPTEL video course and internet browsing facility.

Central Library is enhanced with latest library automation technology: Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) software provided with self check-in and checkout and return kiosk, fast book/CD/Journal circulation, handheld reader for security, efficient inventory management, locating missing/specific books quickly and easily and online renewal/advance booking facility. The library is provided with Web OPAC (On-line Public Access Catalogue) facility.

Also Library Automation Management System has now been upgraded with latest version to provide enhanced services and improved user experience. Automated systems can send notifications, reminders, and alerts to users for due dates, events, or new acquisitions, improving communication between the library and its patrons. As libraries expand their collections or services, newer systems are designed to scale more easily, handling larger volumes of data, transactions, and users without significant performance degradation.

 
OBJECTIVES

The primary objective of a library is to provide the right information at the right time in the right form to its users.

  • To provide a well-organized collection of books, periodicals, and electronic media, this meets the instructional needs of the students and faculty in order to support the courses.
  • To maintain a current and useful library collection reflecting the needs of all courses.
  • To create an atmosphere wherein students and faculty may carry on the learning process enjoyable.
 
PURCHASE POLICY

Required Books and journals are purchased based on AICTE recommendation.
At the commencement of every year, approval for the purchase of a list of books and journals (print and e-journals) are obtained from the principal.

 
LIBRARY COMMITTEE POLICY

The Library Committee is an activist group for the library, representing the policies of the library. The main contribution is to participate to the development of library and information strategy, policies, services, and resources. Also, it provides various library services and facilities to the readers.
